Brooks and Christy worked together at the Onyx House college ministry in Eugene before accepting jobs in Everett, Washington where they lived for 8 years. In Everett, Brooks served as an associate pastor where he worked with high school students, young adults and couples preparing for marriage. 

Brooks holds a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary. Brooks and Christy live in Eugene with their four children Jeremiah, William, Dawson, and Noelle.
